Using real-time visualization for progressing prototypes from the virtual world to the physical
Using game engines in the prototyping process allows for iterative design in the virtual space, reducing the burden typically associated with physical prototyping. The streamlined approach afforded by virtual prototyping allows engineers and designers to showcase fully-functional, customer-perspective prototypes to upper management and gain buy-in at earlier development stages. In this presentation, I will discuss the use of real-time engines for the efficient development of virtual interior vehicle interactions that are easily integrated into fully-functioning, user-controlled physical prototypes.
VR/AR Developer and Component Prototyping Engineer – Ford Motor Company
As a VR/AR Developer and Component Prototyping Engineer, Ryan works to combine the virtual and physical worlds using the latest extended reality technology, additive manufacturing, and hobby electronics. In college, he worked to build a telemetry system for a $500 endurance racecar and at Ford has focused his energy to augment the virtual world through real-world interactions. Throughout college and his career, Ryan has combined his passions for getting his hands dirty and mastering innovative technologies. In his day to day role, Ryan helps engineers and designers realize their ideas and communicate using the common language of visualization to create prototypes in both the physical and virtual space.
